The level of detail is counted for the amount of polygons in a model increasing the poly count by having the model at a closer distance to the screen compared to the models in the background who will have a lesser polygon count.
The poly count changes to what game is been made as a usual common polycount will be in the tens of thousands. Also with each scenes seen in a game exampel a close up of a character the majority of the screen is comprised of the characters detail so the detail will be at a higher level. Also a strategy game might have a high poly count but the game play will dictate that with the more content on the screen the level of detail will decrease.

Since my last Unit 64,65 blog entry I have been working on my ship a bit more with textures as I have mapped each section of my created ship. And put the layout into photoshop to texture. I have used some custom brushes to make some signs onto the ship some brushes which fit the theme.
Me? Not a subject I am very familiar with but although I will give it a try.
I am told I am a sarcastic, I take that very seriously.
A passion of mine is stories, tales or narratives as they are called.
I love stories and the power that they contain.
I have stories to tell but sometimes have trouble translating them from thought to paper. As an art it is one that demands precision and clarity.
